self-effacing prophecy

There was an outfit that went with these shoes. I didn’t want to post it. I couldn’t convince myself otherwise. I had the hardest time trying to come up with at least one thing that I liked about the way I looked. Nadda a one. Just the shoes. The sweater was loose in all the wrong places, the dress clung to areas it shouldn’t, my posture undesirable –I never knew one could slump their shoulders so much –with my freakishly long arms dangling at my sides, my man hands and chubby fingers attached at their base…

Then I realized, “Hey, that’s me you’re talking about!”. I just went all Mean Girls on my ass. Why? It could stem from a laundry list of things; of which, are not quite important. The important thing is to stop. To all the people who look in the mirror and like everything that they see –yes, I’m talking to you Affirmation Girl— I applaud you. To the rest of us, which includes myself, this “love of self” doesn’t come as second nature. I’ll have to work on that…and acknowledging it is the first step, right?

But for now, I’m still not posting the outfit.

Garance & Scott x Tiffany Co…

I came across this video yesterday and felt the need to share.

It’s difficult for some to find the One if not, one of the many ones that we may end up with within a lifetime. True love is very rarely what you would find in the movies; boy meets girl, falls in love with girl, girl detests boy, boy wins over girl, girl falls in love with boy, boy and girl get married and live happily ever after…roll credits. What you see in this video –I’d like to think anyway –is what true love really is: sitting under a tree in silence or keeping your girl warm or just hanging out or creating something beautiful together. Oh, and a Tiffany ring as apart of that equation doesn’t hurt either.

blue hue snake-skin shoes

Finally. I’m posting these wedges. I picked them up on a whim a while back…just to spice things up a bit. I love wearing them with anything that contrasts the rich blue hue of the printed snake-skin; cue these red cropped pants (as worn here). I donned this look to work one day and caught many a second glance from the suits in the building. Don’t get me wrong I love suiting up, but every once in a while it’s nice to add a bit of colour-blocking in lieu of your matching grey 3-piece.

Yes…I know…this post lacks substance.

get while the going’s good

The jacket, you’ve seen before. The dress: I had picked it out for my mother on a shopping trip a couple of years back. She wore it twice then handed it down to me. I may have dropped a hint, or two, or seven, about how much I loved it. The jersey, the fit, the longer skirt length; perfect for that 6-month long winter of ours. I dislike wearing pants. Even in the winter. Especially in the winter. Salt stains on the fringe of my wide-legged trousers are a nightmare –like Uggs (enough already, okay?)– I’d like to save a bit of coin on the dry-cleaning bill. Am I right?
