O Canada!

For those of you who have been sleeping under a rock, today is Canada Day. Canada Day, a day when the young (sometimes the old) and the restless flock to the Byward Market & Parliament Hill in downtown Ottawa to celebrate (read: get stupid drunk) and oggle (through drunk goggles) at the fireworks shown at the Hill.

No, no, it’s not all bad. There are several patriotic and family-fun activities to be had during the day throughout the Capital. On this day one is also filled with a nation’s pride upon seeing a large crowd (of epic proportions) all sharing their love for this glorious country we call Canada…but only for approximately 30 seconds. That’s exactly how long it takes for you to realize that you are surrounded by a sea of people with no land in sight and your chances of being puked on has increased by 300% (and yes, this situation is only hypothetical…).

For the last reason alone, I am fleeing to Toronto by train with the Man of My Dreams…to go to the Zoo. Yeah, that’s right, the Zoo. Lions and tigers and bears and monkeys and flamingos and giraffes etc, oh my!

Happy Canada tout le monde!
