juxtaposition of materials – street style at its best

I came across this photo while perusing one of my favourite style blogs, The Sartorialist, and froze. Truly, very inspiring. I love everything about this look; the feminine top with the sweatshirt as skirt and lace up suede booties. Maybe a look to be re-invented here in Ottawa? Doubtful. To visit the streets of Milan…

discovering vancouver…in style of course.

Sure…this post is long over due. But without further a due, here are a few favourite outfits I wore while exploring Vancouver. I visited the Vancouver Aquarium, the Art Gallery, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Stanley Park, Gastown, Yaletown and went shopping down Granville Street. Stay tuned for some photos of my travels.

sweater - Club Monaco / jeans - Gap / anorak - H&M / watch - Micheal Kors / flats - Payless

plaid shirt - Men's Tommy Hilfiger (thrifted) / skirt - Forever 21

The last outfit is my most favourite; I have yet to re-create it here in Ottawa. I’m a big fan of rolled-up sleeves. I don’t know what it is…i just like it. Perhaps because it adds a touch of casualness to an outfit.

The posts have been somewhat few and far between, but I am trying to make a greater effort to post more on the regular. Thanks to those who stop by and thanks to those who stop by and bring their friends. While you’re here, you might as well leave your comments. Any feedback is much appreciated…as long as its only positive.

my birthday suit

dress - Zara / shoes - Nine West / watch - Michael Kors

At the time of writing, it was still my birthday. This is what I decided to work wear on my “special” day. This dress is one of my favourites. Love the nautical theme and the beautiful crest. You know when you’re shopping for nothing in particular and then you come across something on the rack that makes you inadvertently gasp. I had that moment with this dress…so I bought it…despite my frugal-ness.

I didn’t do much for my birthday but received the greatest of gifts from The Man of My Dreams. He made my day so wonderful. Best. Birthday. Ever.

i concentrate really hard when taking pictures -- as if to make them turn out much better

leandra medine – man repelling all night long

leandra medine, man repeller

Despite being the  late bloomer that I am, I’ve recently discovered The Man Repeller. I’ve seen the name kicked around the blogosphere on more than one occasion and decided to see what the buzz was all about.

Love. Her.

man repelling at its best - canadian tuxedo anyone?

I’m somewhat surprised at how far she’s come along in such a short time, but then again, not really. Her writing makes me laugh every time and her styling is great! Most definitely a blog I heart. Puts a smile on my face and a guttural roar of laughter in my belly every time. I strive to man repel for the rest of my life.
